I am not an eco warrior, it just became clear that we have to deal with this issue of global warming. My passion wasn't always there; my carbon footprint was impressively large. I never gave it a thought but for me and my wife, things changed when we lived out a long held desire to sail round the world. We bought our little yacht and left the UK in 2004, sailing to the Med, Canaries and Caribbean. As sailors you are not only forced to live close to the environment, but green issues such as power, waste and water usage are no longer green issues - they are a focus of your existence.
Generating power, conserving water, and minimising rubbish are fundamental in the middle of the Atlantic and awoke our awareness of our previous profligate lifestyle. Plus, whilst living aboard our small yacht in the Caribbean I could see the damage to the reefs from warming the oceans. It was so clear and obvious. My wife Inge is a bit of an activist, she's made change, aid and poverty her life's work and together, we decided this was an issue we could not ignore. So we came home to the UK to try and do something.
Now we try to integrate sustainability into our buying decisions, but it is not easy. This is where the concept started. So I thought, what if by just buying the regular
things we all need and want, we could get a green benefit? If it is hard to buy
everything green, why not make every purchase green? When we approached our
retail partners it was clear that they shared our desire to do something, and the
CarbonCred Rewards Card was born. We hope it will help you in your commitment
